Located about 70 kilometers northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, the Cu Chi Tunnels are a remarkable historical site. Once known as the "Iron Triangle" during wartime, this area was famous for its resilience and strategic importance. The tunnel system, stretching over 200 kilometers, served as an underground stronghold for Vietnamese soldiers during the Vietnam–America conflict. Today, Cu Chi stands as a powerful symbol of endurance and ingenuity, attracting visitors from both within Vietnam and around the world.
Itinerary:
Your journey begins with a hotel pick-up, followed by a scenic 1.5-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City to the historic Cu Chi area. Upon arrival, you'll be introduced to the site with a short documentary film showcasing how the tunnel network was created and the incredible resilience of the locals who lived through wartime hardships.
Next, you'll venture into the preserved sections of the tunnel system. Here, you’ll witness firsthand the ingenious design of underground life — from sleeping quarters and kitchens to hidden hospitals, weapon workshops, storage areas, and command centers. You'll also learn about the clever traps and secret entrances that were used to protect the area during wartime.
Enjoy a taste of history with a serving of traditional wartime food — cassava and herbal tea — as once consumed by guerrilla fighters. For those seeking a bit more excitement, there’s an optional opportunity to experience the shooting range with real weapons.
After the tour, you'll head back to Ho Chi Minh City. Tour ends upon arrival at your hotel.
