Ta Xua – The Legendary Mountain of the Northwest
Located in Ban Cong commune, Tram Tau district, Yen Bai province, Ta Xua reaches an altitude of 2,865 meters and features a trio of striking peaks. It’s often mistakenly associated with the Ta Xua mountain range in neighboring Son La, though the two are distinct.
Renowned among adventure seekers, Ta Xua has earned a legendary status thanks to its dramatic landscapes—towering peaks piercing through a sea of clouds, the iconic Turtle Head Rock jutting out from a cliff edge, and ridgelines that resemble the spine of a dinosaur. Despite not ranking among the ten tallest mountains in Vietnam, Ta Xua presents a formidable challenge. The route features steep ascents, ancient mossy forests, and diverse terrains that demand both physical strength and determination. However, the breathtaking vistas from the summit are a well-earned reward for those who conquer its trails.
Group tours typically depart every Friday evening. For up-to-date itineraries, please reach out directly to Viettrekking.
Custom private tours are also available upon request, with flexible scheduling throughout the week and an additional fee.
