Bac Ha Market from Sapa
Tour Overview
Bac Ha Market is one of the most vibrant and culturally rich markets in the northern highlands of Vietnam, located in Lao Cai province. The name "Bac Ha" is believed to originate from the Tay ethnic group, with "Pá Chà" in their language meaning "hundred bundles," reflecting the bustling trade activities here.
Taking part in a full-day tour to Bac Ha Market offers you a chance to experience the most colorful and authentic ethnic gathering in the Northwest, held every Sunday. As you wander through the market, you’ll be amazed by the vivid traditional costumes of the local people, including the Flower Hmong, Tay, and Dao. The air is filled with the aroma of regional specialties, and the market stalls are packed with unique handmade goods, fresh produce, and herbal remedies collected from the mountains.
Beyond just a market, it’s a cultural feast—an opportunity to engage with local life, taste distinctive dishes, and perhaps take home a piece of the highlands. Visiting Bac Ha Market will leave you with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for the diversity of Vietnam's ethnic heritage.
